The Business Performance and Support Branch delivers fiscal management, governance, and business support, along with technical services and advanced capability development to drive business performance across RFSQ. The Business Performance team is responsible for strategic initiatives designed to improve service-wide financial and performance management effectiveness, including the implementation of governance and reporting that enhance business operations for volunteers and Brigades, and provide efficient and effective support services to staff and volunteers.Reporting to the Business Analyst and Reporting Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing high level technical, reporting, business support and advice in relation to information technology systems. You will be responsible for managing data that contributes to the development, implementation and evaluation of operational plans, and policies and procedures to ensure the effective management of fire service delivery and monitoring outcomes against performance targets. You will also be responsible for the collection of high-quality data during large scale operations through management and support of systems such as Operations Management System, Electronic Incident Action Plans and Total Operations Mapping.
About Us
The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) provides fire prevention, preparedness and response services to fire in the built and landscape environments, as well as scientific and specialist capabilities to Queensland communities. The QFD provides a multi-hazard emergency response, including road crash rescue, bushfire, hazardous material, technical and vertical rescue, severe weather incidents, remote and swiftwater rescue, and provides a number of functions supporting community safety outcomes.
The department encompasses Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFR), Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ), as well as the broader department which work together to pre-empt, prevent, mitigate and manage the consequences of fires and other emergencies on Queensland communities and support our large volunteer membership across the state.

Purpose of the role

- Knowledge and experience in the management of database management systems including SQL querying.
- Knowledge of, or experience working with volunteers and/or within a volunteer organisation.
- Capacity to work at night and/or weekends to suit a volunteer environment.
Responsibilities
Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
- Contribute to the development of statewide reporting and service-wide business systems, ensuring consistency and effective resource utilisation including, conducting regular reviews to ensure high-level data quality complies with audit requirements.
- Prepare periodic and ad-hoc reports to support sound business planning and decision-making.
- Support the analysis, design, and implementation of innovative improvements to business systems and reporting, to enable streamlined and effective service delivery.
- Manage and maintain data to provide high-quality information for operational performance management and other reporting requirements.
- Manage and analyse data to develop, recommend and implement strategies to enhance operational capability.
- Assist staff in the use of strategic information, the operationalisation of operating concepts and risk-to-resource models, to monitor service-wide operations and performance outcomes.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and contribute through information sharing and participation in pre-release systems testing and forums.
- Contribute to an environment in which high-quality services and continuous improvement processes are delivered to all levels of management and staff.
