How will I help?
Are you passionate about policy change, policy development and first line business lending? We are seeking an expert Manager, Credit Policy, to join the Business Lending Risk team.
Credit Risk is a key contributor to the Westpac Group’s goal of building a simpler, stronger bank. This Business Credit Policy role is part of a team responsible for the establishment, development, improvement and maintenance of Business Credit Risk Policies and Procedures.
You will ensure policies and processes align with credit risk management frameworks, approved business strategy, risk appetite and reflect regulatory requirements. You will also support and provide recommendations to other members of the Credit Policy, Credit Risk teams and key senior stakeholders.
You will also:
- Policy Management: Credit policy reviews and amendments in line with policy governance requirements and timeframes. Including, a focus on finding opportunities to simplify or amend to support organisation objectives
- Reporting and Compliance: Support the Groups overall compliance with regulatory prudential standards through reporting and insight to senior team members of any material and emerging risks impacting the portfolio and policy
- Collaboration: Engage with the broader policy team, Executive Manager and Head of Risk, Business Lending to ensure that Divisional activities or targeted reviews are completed in a timely manner
- Risk Management: Work with the credit policy and risk leadership on the development and implementation of credit risk policies, operational processes and controls to support credit policy requirements. Identify potential risks, dependencies, and issues that could impact the policies or processes
- Change Management: Chip in to ongoing initiatives and projects to identify and develop opportunities to ensure organizational adoption of change in policy / business processes and systems

What do I need?
- Experience: Credit risk policy experience within a banking environment or banking/financial services experience across a broad range of fields with a sound understanding of credit risk origination, evaluation, and management across various risk classes
- Technical: Preferably have experience reviewing risk frameworks or credit risk policies and understand APRA’s prudential regulation requirements
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical collaborators
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
- Qualification: Tertiary qualified in finance, accounting, or business-related subject area
- Project Management: background in Agile or hybrid methodologies
- Tool Knowledge: Familiarity with data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and data governance platforms
