Overview
With Strathalbyn Hospital offering a Nurse-led Urgent Care Service, acute care, restorative programs including Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM), palliative care, and outpatient services, this position provides a diverse and rewarding nursing experience.
In this pivotal management position, you will provide support to the Nurse Unit Manager in the leadership of nurses within the Strathalbyn and District Health Service. Promoting continuity and consistency of care, you will contribute to the implementation of practice changes and undertake service management responsibilities. These will include performance management processes, recruitment, staffing, leave management, rostering, work allocation and attendance management, financial and supplies planning and monitoring. Utilising your nursing skills and knowledge, you will support and work collaboratively with less experienced members of the nursing team. You will accept accountability for your own practice standards, activities delegated to others, and for the guidance and development of less experienced staff. You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. This will be supported with prior experience in management and leadership roles, you will be capable of giving supervision to student nurses, Enrolled Nurses and less experienced Registered Nurses. You will use your effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills to maintain a cohesive multidisciplinary team and resolve local or immediate nursing care problems.
