CELOTTI WORKFORCE logistics and transport client with a large footprint in NT is looking for a Transport Operations Manager to join the existing team.The primary purpose of the NT Transport Manager is to manage the day-to-day transportation operations and workforce for the Transport operation, working in coordination and cooperation with the WA Transport Manager. Manage all aspects of NT transportation and warehouse operations. to include safety and security compliances, personnel management and scheduling, asset management, financial performance and business planning.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Manage and assist in the planning and execution of the daily transportation requirements of company drivers. (Darwin Local and Linehaul), includes load dispatch and delivery follow up.
- Responsible for hiring, coaching, performance appraisal and disciplining of staff.
- Develop and maintain operation procedures and monitor training.
- Foster and maintain positive partnerships with all stakeholders, internal and external.
- Responsible to ensure that all activities are in adherence to Service Agreements and local governance.
- Direct investigations to verify and resolve customer or shipper complaints.
- Management of operational budget and P&L reports on a monthly basis.
- Collaborate with other managers and staff members in order to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals and objectives.
- Monitor operations to ensure that staff members comply with policies and procedures, safety rules and government regulations.
- Promote safe work activities by conducting safety audits, attending company safety meetings, and meeting with individual staff members.
- Direct and coordinate with the team, activities in order to maximise the use of equipment and facilities.
- Assist in allocation of resources to improve operational performance and monitor regularly.
- Participate in weekly operational meetings.
- Recognise and reward safe behaviour. Challenge and counsel improvements to eliminate unsafe behaviour. Report on action failures to comply with safety standards or procedures
- Undertake observations and provide coaching and advice to assist people in maintaining a safe workplace
- Ability to coach and encourage others to attain their own personal standards
- Act as first point of contact for the client on site and manager resources to meet demands.
- A minimum of 3-5 years previous experience in a similar role
- Sound knowledge of the transport industry and business management, including financial understanding
- Advanced skills using Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to work in a demanding environment
