The Opportunity
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s (DFAT) Centre for Australia-India Relations (the Centre) has an opportunity for a talented Grant Program Officer.
The Centre is a national platform established by the Australian Government in 2023 to support and facilitate greater collaboration and engagement with India.
The Centre works across all levels of government, industry, academia, and civil society to build greater understanding of the Australia-India relationship and the opportunities flowing from our burgeoning connections.
- High impact role supporting grant programs throughout the entire grant lifecycle
- Secure an initial 6-month labour hire contract with extension options
The short-term goal of the position is to support the finalisation of DFAT’s 2024-25 grant opportunities by end of financial year (June 2025). If extended, the Officer will then support the 2025-26 Grant Program grant cycle.
Key duties consist of:
- Process co-ordination, including allocating and tracking tasks in SmartyGrants, data collection/maintenance and records management
- Manage the Inboxes, providing responses to stakeholders and managing communication flows
- Support contract negotiations
- Help design and develop 2025-26 grant opportunity guidelines and supporting artefacts (including online smart forms)
- Conduct eligibility and technical assessments of applications (as specified in the grants guidelines)
- Provide support to the assessment process (via SmartyGrants and Sharepoint platforms)
- Under broad direction, lead grant awarding and reporting processes (SmartyGrants and GrantConnect)
- Provide other policy and program support to the team and executive as required
- Will have sound understanding of the Commonwealth Grants Framework, Commonwealth Grant Rules and Principles and PGPA Act
- Comprehensive understanding of the grant lifecycle to support grant round design and development of grant artefacts. Inclusive of conducting assessments, co-ordinating grant processes and the establishment of grants and grant reporting
- Possess strong skills and experience in program management, including contract management, implementation and budget management. Industry or international grants administration experience is preferred
- Exhibit a high degree of professionalism during regular stakeholder engagement, including with Australian Government agencies, service delivery partners and partner governments
- Ideally possess experience in delivering government-funded programs and/or an understanding of India issues
- This position will support the Program Manager with day-to-day mentoring of an APS4 Grant Support Officer and will ideally have experience supervising staff
Salary / Rate
- Hourly rate - $70/hr - $85/hr + 11.5% Super (depending on experience)
- Barton location
- 6-month contract, with month extension options
