We are looking for an exceptional degree-qualified Early Childhood Teacher interested in working in an organisation that supports you to do what you love to do most– support children and their families.

You put children first. As a not-for-profit organisation, so do we.

When you join SDN, you join a village that partners with families to enrich young lives. Our team is a place where we value each other’s unique strengths and perspectives. We believe that the best way to support children is to partner with each other, being generous with our knowledge and skills, and learning and growing together.

About you

You will be an exceptional degree-qualified Early Childhood Teacher, have an excellent understanding of inclusive and family-centred early childhood practice and a willingness to share your knowledge and to grow and learn.

As an Early Childhood Teacher, you’ll work with a team of early childhood professionals to deliver SDN’s innovative, high quality and inclusive program for children, while building strong, meaningful relationships with children and families, and delivering the support of the SDN village to their lives.

About the team

We are a 56-place centre in the heart of Redfern, conveniently close to shops and public transport. At SDN Redfern we celebrate diversity and are proud of the strong bonds we have formed with our families and colleagues.

About the role

In this role you will take the lead in the development, delivery and evaluation of a quality early learning program for children, catering to the individual children’s strengths, interests and needs. You will do this through actively creating a stimulating, positive and developmentally appropriate environment to foster and support all facets of child development. You will also lead and implement processes that support consultation with children and families.

You will need:

  • University qualifications in Early Childhood Education and registration with NESA
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusion and the value of neurodiversity
  • Skill in providing quality experiences and inviting learning environments for children
  • Experience with pedagogical practice informed by the Early Years Learning Framework and best practice in inclusion
  • Knowledge of the National Quality Standards and the implications for centres
  • Understanding of the development of children, their health, hygiene and nutritional needs
  • Current Senior First Aid certificate

Your benefits

  • Above award pay and conditions
  • Discounted childcare fees & priority placement for your children
  • Teacher accreditation support
  • Professional training and development to help you to continue to learn and grow
  • Rostered day off (RDO) per month (full-time staff)
  • Paid lunch breaks
  • Generous leave entitlements
  • Employee Assistance Program

What it’s like to work with our village

At SDN, everyone is welcome and respected. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people from culturally diverse backgrounds to apply.

We’re here for you, helping to grow a career you can be proud of, with ongoing networking, training, and promotion opportunities.
