Business Unit Overview

Our Operations unit is the engine room of Superloop - responsible for maintaining and supporting all of our products and internal technical infrastructure to ensure the best possible service to both our customers and our very own business. Our Operations unit is responsible for ensuring that the business has the technical capability and capacity to deliver services to all Superloop customers ranging from Home Broadband to International Wholesale.

Role Purpose

Our team is the enabler of our information, cyber security and connectivity systems that makes everything we do possible. This role is responsible for leading our Information Security and IT management functions. The Head of IT and Security develops and manages the strategic IT & Cyber Security plan and execution. It is 100% accountable for ensuring we remain cyber safe and protected while our employees are using technology.

The team looks after the technology lifecycle from when an employee starts to when they finish up with Superloop, including looking after the onboarding, connectivity and security of our systems and technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation, execution, and continuous improvement of an integrated IT infrastructure and information security strategy that aligns with the organisation's objectives, growth plans, and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong and genuine leadership in the areas of IT strategy, emerging technologies, information, and knowledge management.
  • Strive for excellence in technology governance, security and infrastructure systems and knowledge management to support the business’ strategic plan.
  • Maintain essential IT operations, including operating systems, applications, servers, communication systems, laptops, desktops, and other hardware.
  • Lead IT and security teams in developing and executing incident response protocols for cybersecurity breaches, system failures, or IT outages. Coordinate disaster recovery and business continuity planning to minimize downtime and data loss.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the IT, Security and Enterprise Systems Teams.
  • Establish and maintain strong strategic stakeholder relationships with all departments.
  • Drive the implementation and continuous development of information systems including communicating system changes or requirements.
  • Review systems to ensure people, business processes and systems are in alignment.
  • Work directly with various product owners and key stakeholders to ensure clear requirements and delivery against them.
  • Lead Enterprise Systems teams to architect, build, maintain and document all essential IT related platforms and infrastructure including both public and private cloud.
  • Oversee company-wide cybersecurity training and awareness programs, ensuring all employees are well-versed in security best practices, company policies, and how to recognise potential threats.
  • Promote and foster a culture of security across Superloop.
  • Evaluate, select, and manage third-party IT vendors and security providers, ensuring they meet the company’s security standards. Conduct regular reviews and assessments of third-party relationships to mitigate external risks.
  • Promote consistent tooling, CI/CD pipelining and development process best practice across the group.
  • Establish, enforce, and monitor security policies, procedures, and best practices in line with regulatory frameworks (e.g., SOCI, CPS230, Essential 8, ISO 27001). Ensure the organisation is compliant with all relevant security regulations, both domestically and internationally.
  • Maintain our existing Information Security certifications, as well as manage our accreditation for new standards as the business requires.
  • Stay ahead of emerging technology trends, security threats, and industry standards. Drive innovation in IT and security technologies to enhance operational efficiency, security posture, and the overall user experience.
  • Maintain and forecast budgetary requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Infosec, technology or computer science.
  • Additional certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA, ITIL) are strongly regarded
  • 10+ years experience in IT management.
  • In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, cloud computing, networking, systems administration, and enterprise software. Strong technical understanding across live run, operational IT environments including back-end infrastructure, data centres, business intelligence and reporting.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make critical decisions under pressure. Experience analysing security incidents, IT failures, and system vulnerabilities to develop appropriate solutions.
  • Communication and influencing skills to establish successful working relationships and balancing conflicting priorities.
  • Proven ability to manage change effectively – especially in regard to Cyber related projects
  • People management experience, and the ability to manage cohesively across different office locations.
  • Strong leadership skills with proven experience managing a technical solutions team.
  • The ability to build strong internal relationships, and influence stakeholders of different functions and levels.
  • Strong experience in managing relationships with third-party vendors, service providers, and contractors, ensuring their services meet organizational standards.
  • The attitude to win collaboratively.

Key Deliverables

  • Develop, Implement and maintain the IT & Security Strategy.
  • Interpretation of contracts, data and financial information to provide accurate inputs into the Superloop Group budget and other reporting as required.
  • Working seamlessly across all teams in the business to provide a superior level of service
  • Successful management of the IT, Security and Enterprise Systems teams - mentoring, leading and coaching the team members.
  • 100% ownership of cyber security and maintaining our cyber risk within appetite.
  • Continuously seeking out better, smarter ways of working - using automation and technology to find efficiencies while maintaining a high level of personal service and “human touch”.
  • Scan and stay abreast (and make recommendations) of new technologies and systems which can help Superloop achieve its goals and vision.
