We are on the hunt for a Designer for ready to wear. Reporting to the Brand Manager, you will execute all the design processes for allocated categories ensuring all designs meet quality and fit standards, and brand creative direction. This is a Maternity Leave cover, for a period of 8 months.

Key areas of accountability:

Ready to wear Design:

  • Design range in line with brief from Brand Manager
  • Work with the Brand Manger to establish a seasonal and monthly colour palette;
  • Consistently value and hold true to the heritage of sass & bide to reflect the spirit, honesty, energy and passion in all areas of design;
  • Work collaboratively with garment techs, freelance pattern makers and production
  • Source and/or develop relevant fabrics, trims and treatments for each season;
  • Order and chase all raw materials required for sampling
  • Ensure all protos are on schedule
  • Communicate with Suppliers
  • Maintain all trackers including, style development, raw materials, receiving and sending products.
  • Oversee fittings.
  • Ensure critical path deadlines are achieved
  • Set up style number and names

Range Plan Management:

  • Preparing and handing over a complete sketch and briefing sheet (including bom details) to the Garment Techs in line with the critical path;
  • Working with Garment Techs to ensure product development is completed in a timely fashion
  • Producing or directing production of artwork as required
  • Designs for range plan to be correct and updated for each category to handover to buyer/planning
  • Negotiating changes (if necessary) to the seasonal range plan that is handed over by the buyer
  • Responsible for sourcing raw materials and all information for the products aesthetic to achieve option plan parameters, including first margin.
  • Attending fit sessions for relevant product –protos-PPS
  • Attending first and second range reviews with the buying and planning team and sales team
  • Sharing product knowledge with internal workforce
  • Ensure styles briefed to suppliers can meet fabric and production minimums
  • Ensure estimate price and first price per style matches range plans and targeted rrp;

Seasonal pre-brief development:

  • perform pre-brief development work in collaboration with brand manager
  • monitor trends and competitors
  • rtw groups as required with focus on fashion and new silhouette development;

To be Successful you will have:

  • 8 + years’ experience in women’s apparel design/ pattern making role with a strong knowledge of premium fashion design principles;
  • previous experience in ready to wear design;
  • you’re an able multitasker, prioritising your workload appropriately;
  • you’re customer centric – everything you do is with our customer in mind;
  • you have a strong focus on developing & sustaining collaborative and productive relationships;
  • you are creative, innovative & you think differently in dealing with both opportunities and issues;
  • you’re a strong, clear & concise communicator;
  • you provide feedback as & when required to all levels of the business;
  • you are organised & efficient, with a strong focus on achieving results;
  • you are passionate about leading the culture of fashion for bold and individualistic women
