Position : Pathology Services Assistants

Location : Bowen Hills, QLD

Employment Type : Full-time - Day and Night Shift Positions Available

Key Responsibilities

Applications are invited for full-time Pathology Service Assistants to join the Bowen Hills Specimen Reception Area (SRA) Preanalytical Team, night shift.

You will work Monday-Friday 8.30am - 4:30 pm or 4.30pm - 12:00 am. The department provides services Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 12:00 am, Saturday 8:30 am to 11:00 pm and Sunday, 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Participation in the Saturday and public holiday rosters is expected.

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Specimen registration, data entry and processing
  • Unpacking, receipting and distribution of specimens – you may be required to be on your feet for long periods of time
  • Lifting/carrying eskies
  • Delivery of specimens to laboratory departments
  • Loading of samples onto automated equipment
  • Preanalytical preparation and processing including centrifuging and aliquoting of specimens
What we are looking for

Suitable applicants should be enthusiastic, possess good communication and organisational skills and have the ability to work as part of a busy and multi-tasked team.

A high level of commitment to customer service, laboratory turnaround times and accuracy of processing is required. The job does entail manual handling and on some shifts you will be required to be on your feet for the majority of the shift.
