Description:
The Senior Planning Engineer, VTP will assist in developing and implementing the Victorian Transmission Plan (VTP) and Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) initiatives. The role involves collaborating with stakeholders, conducting power system analysis, providing strategic advice, supporting transmission network and generation resource planning and scheduling, and contributing to long-term energy reform plans through joint planning with internal and external stakeholders.What you will deliver* Provide operational technical input and advise for the development of Victorian Transmission (VT) Guidelines, VT Plan and Renewable Energy Zones.
* Develop and present technical expert, strategic and authoritative advice, and documentation, briefings, correspondence, submissions and reports to a range of audiences including Ministers, departmental executives, and stakeholders.
* Develop and manage strong working relationships with stakeholders including departmental executives, Ministers and and industries to facilitate sound advice.
* Confidently represent the Department at key internal and external decision making, joint planning, policy and program forums, at conferences and meetings to ensure they are informed throughout the process.
What you will bring
* An appropriate tertiary qualification in Engineering, Mathematics, Econometrics, Economics, Science, or other relevant quantitative fields is required.
* Demonstrated experience or knowledge in renewable energy infrastructure development, electricity demand forecasting, energy at risk calculation and cost-benefit economic modelling will be highly desirable.
* Demonstrated experience or knowledge running quantitative and analytical strategies, to deliver determinations around complex energy models & power systems analysis tools PSS/E, PSCAD would be highly desirable.
* Knowledge of Electricity Transmission System operation, planning, regulation and economics.
