About the service:
CAMHS is a specialist mental health service that assesses and treats young people 0 – 17 years of age and their families/carers who are living in the HNE Local Health District (LHD). Young people and their families referred to the service have complex and severe mental health problems that significantly impact on most aspects of their functioning and development.
The NSW Government has allocated funding to establish the Youth Mental Health (YMH) Initiative as part of the National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Agreement. This funding will support the delivery of Local Health District (LHD) youth mental health care to young people presenting to headspace services with severe and complex mental health needs.
About the role:
The Lead Project Officer will lead integration activities and planning activities with headspace services located within the Hunter New England Local Health District with the aim to establish standardised referral pathways and processes between the services to remove barriers to access, build sustainable partnerships and support appropriate and timely service provision to young people presenting to headspace services with severe and complex mental health needs.
You will report directly to the CAMHS Special Programs, Partnerships, and CCI Manager and collaborate with the wider CAMHS Leadership Team, as well as participate in relevant clinical and operational governance meetings. You will also receive professional supervision and have access to training and development opportunities.

We are looking for a clinician with:
- Project management experience
- Knowledge of health systems for young people with complex mental health issues
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders
- Capability to work semi-autonomously and meet deadlines
Essential Criteria:
- Must hold as a minimum appropriate tertiary qualification in Registered Nursing, Psychology, Occupational Therapy and general registration through the Australian Health practitioner Regulation Agency ((AHPRA), or qualification in Social Work, Dietetics and Nutrition or Counsellor (Degree in Bachelor Health Science Mental Health, Djirruwang Program) which provides eligibility or membership of the relevant professional association.
- Eligible to drive in NSW.
