Position Overview:
The Engineering Manager for the Commercial Team will lead a team of engineers responsible for the development, customization, and deployment of advanced electronic solutions. The role involves managing product design, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet client needs. You will play a key role in product innovation, project management, and maintaining a high level of engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Development: Manage, mentor, and lead a team of engineers, promoting a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Project Management: Oversee the end-to-end project lifecycle, from concept to delivery, ensuring timely execution, resource allocation, and meeting project milestones.Engineering Services: Oversee the engineering process from design through to project completion, ensuring all work is accurate, timely, and compliant with relevant standards and regulations. Ensure products meet regulatory, safety, and performance standards specific to the Australian market and international guidelines. Technical Expertise: Provide expert guidance in advanced electronics design, power solutions, and product development. Collaborate with R&D, sales, and product teams to optimize design for manufacturability and performance.Process Improvement: Develop and refine engineering processes to improve efficiency, quality, and timely delivery.Customer Service: Serve as a key technical advisor to customers, providing timely responses and maintaining strong relationships.Business Development: Identify opportunities for product and process improvements and foster relationships with key clients to drive business growth.Innovation & Improvement: Drive product innovation and continuous improvement initiatives. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor products.Cost Control: Monitor and manage engineering budgets, ensuring cost-effective designs while maintaining quality and performance.Supplier Management: Engage with suppliers to ensure component quality, timely delivery, and cost efficiency. Work on new materials and technologies that align with Delta's sustainability goals.
Key Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics, or related field. CPEng / RPEng and RPEQ are highly regardedExperienceMinimum of 7-10 years in electronics engineering, with at least 3-5 years in a management role. Experience in power electronics and commercial electronic products is highly desirable.
Required Skills:
Strong background in electronics design, power management, and thermal management. Proficiency in relevant CAD software and engineering tools.Project Management: Proven ability to manage complex projects, from design to implementation, within a commercial context.Communication & Leadership: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with experience working in cross-functional teams. Ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve engineering challenges.Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with Australian and international product standards, regulations, and safety requirements for electronic products.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with sustainability-focused design and energy-efficient product solutions.Knowledge of the latest trends in electronics, energy storage, or renewable energy systems.
