What will you do
We have a rare opportunity for a Purchasing officer to join our family friendly team. Ideally you have a good eye for detail, are proactive, easy going, energetic with a continuous improvement mindset to improve purchasing efficiencies and function, whilst maintaining and growing relationships with approved suppliers, to drive best practice.
Reporting to the Financial Controller you will be responsible for the full scope of materials and goods purchasing and supplier management. With opportunities to work closely and receive support and training from internal stakeholders, you will also manage a portfolio of external stakeholders across the metal, plastics, irrigation industries and beyond.
As part of the Finance team, you will focus on raw materials, direct and indirect spend and inventory, to support profitable purchasing initiatives that meet overall business objectives.
Your day to day includes but is not limited to:

Maintain data sheets for items purchased for fabrication or direct sale.

Maintain preferred suppliers, and materials cost/stock file and ranking of suppliers in terms of the management system procedures

Plan and align all purchases consistent with the quantities set out by the budgetary and forecasting exercises to support business needs.

Bring external benchmarks, best practices, and strategies in purchasing, highlighting areas for improvement.

Identify and report actual and potential non-conformances with products and/or services, both internally and externally

Lead the organization to drive cost out of the supply chain.

Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims as required.

Assist administration and sales staff with item/job costing as required.

Accurate recording of inward stock, data entry and NCR requirements.
About you
-
Previous experience in a similar purchasing role and understanding purchasing sourcing and purchasing techniques (advantageous).

Have knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001 requirements.

Computer literate with solid Microsoft Office skills and experience with ERP/CRM systems (desirable). Full training given to the right applicant with inhouse systems.

Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written, with the ability to build meaningful. relationships with all stakeholders including customers, to influence and negotiate to get the best outcome.

Excellent time management and coordination skills with a sense of urgency, results focussed, with high attention to detail and analytical mindset.

Demonstrated experience in minimising consumable waste, managing supplier performance and addressing quality and supply concerns.

Strong decision-making ability, critical thinking and problem solving.

Are a team player with a collaborative style who has a can-do attitude, is positive, resilient, flexible, and adaptable, and wants to work in a team that likes to have some fun.
