Description:

As Principal Financial Analyst you will be responsible for assisting with initiatives that deliver products and services and provide high level professional advice on financial performance, budget management and funding to responsible Directorates. You will collaborate within the department and central agencies, particularly with Queensland Treasury.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Assist and contribute to initiatives that deliver outcomes that provide high level professional and strategic analysis and advice on financial performance and budget management including complex financial strategic models to assist analysis of a range of operational and capital cost types, and interrogating variances and forecasts.
  • Assist in projects to identify and implement technological opportunities for improvement to reporting financial performance and budget management processes with particular focus on Microsoft Fabric / Power BI and other contemporary business intelligence tools and platforms
  • Utilising Microsoft Fabric / Power BI and other contemporary business intelligence tools and platforms to manipulate data from multiple sources, both financial and non-financial) to develop reports / dashboards / analyses to meet business needs.
  • Assist with managing reporting frameworks / structures to ensure consistency, standardisation and governance to maintain accuracy of reports for continued provision accounting advice and services to departmental organisational units.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of reporting systems and associated reporting processes. Utilisation of Microsoft Fabric / Power BI, contemporary business intelligence tools and platforms as necessary.
  • Assist in the collation and, preparation of documents, presentations, executive briefs, and correspondence as required on a range of budget, financial and other corporate issues.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant Government legislation and departmental policies and procedures in relation to budget, financial, administrative and other corporate and operational issues.
  • Developing and maintaining positive and effective relationships with external stakeholders, clients including senior management, and team members.
  • Contributing to the cross-team delivery of financial services within the department as required.
