The Position
This is a dynamic hands on role, which requires a broad skill set and is suited to someone with drive, enthusiasm and talent. As the Fabrication Assistant you will be required to work with fabrication and assembly of structural fiberglass systems, anti-slip products and underfoot matting. The ideal candidate will have the drive to learn and work efficiently as well as accurately. This position requires the applicant to hold a current valid drivers’ license and Australian police check. Reporting to the Production Manager you will be responsible for:
· Constructing and fabricating using fiberglass reinforced plastics to the company’s expected quality standard
· Construction and assembly of orders
· Production/manufacture of custom product orders
· Palletising and packaging of 'bulky goods' orders
· Working Trello and Epicor to view drawings, specifications, job cards and jobs which are assigned to different working stations including machine operation
· Daily housekeeping
· Actively participating in toolbox meetings
· Liaising with team leaders for clear instruction, direction and support
· Liaising with warehouse for supplies
· Painting fiber reinforced plastic products when required
· Using KanBan for inventory
· General house cleaning duties including cleaning and up keeping the cell and machinery
· Using general hand and power tools to fabricate product during the necessary phases of the job
· Using basic machinery i.e. table saw, band saw
· Maintaining a safe workplace at all times
· Painting our FRP products when required
· Reporting hazards, near misses and injuries
· Participate in daily toolbox meetings
Must Haves
To be successful in this position you must have:
· Drivers’ license
· National Police Clearance
· Living in South Australia
· Experience using machinery or power and hand tools
· Experience with metal fabrication is advantageous
· Experience in carpentry is highly regarded
· Demonstrated experience working within a team environment
· Experience working in a noisy dusty environment
· A positive can-do attitude
· A clear communicator
· Good time-management skills
· A good eye for detail
· Reliable and eager
· Patient and tolerant
· A fast learner
