An exciting opportunity exists within the SER Youth Engagement Team, as a Principal Education Officer - Student Engagement and Wellbeing. You will be joining an experienced team who are committed to supporting our young people and their families to engage with education, with a strong focus on collaborating with our schools and external partners to enhance success.

Your Opportunity

As the Principal Education Officer, Student Engagement and Wellbeing you will:

  • Provide strategic and operational advice to principals and senior officers on the delivery of specialist regional services and the implementation of policies and procedures that assist the development of inclusive schooling practices for students with diverse learning needs, including the management and distribution of resources to support activities for students with additional educational needs.
  • Work with and within schools to provide advice to principals and regional staff on school disciplinary absences, exemptions and prosecutions and other legislation, policies and procedures.


Your Role

As the Principal Education Officer, Student Engagement and Wellbeing, your responsibilities include:

  • Provide advice to senior officers and the Regional Director on the distribution of resources and the development of monitoring mechanisms to ensure adherence to allocation models.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior officers to assist in the strategic planning of regional facilities and resources to facilitate the equitable delivery of services to students with additional educational needs across the region.
  • Lead the development and implementation of inclusive schooling practices within schools, including the enhancement of capacity building.
  • Contribute to the development of a whole of government and whole of community strategic partnership framework that integrates Government initiatives.
  • Contribute to planning and goal setting for the region, providing high level and timely advice to senior officers on complex and diverse emerging issues and priorities to meet the diverse needs of school communities.
  • Develop and implement capacity building methods for delivery of specialist services which assist in the development of inclusive schooling practices for students which lead to improved student engagement and wellbeing.
  • Provide leadership in research, development, maintenance and review of operational policies, standards, procedures, programs and curriculum implementation, including the preparation of complex reports, submissions, briefs, memoranda and correspondence relating to sensitive issues across the region.
  • Provide strategic and operational advice to senior officers to develop strategic and innovative partnerships across government, with school communities, clusters of schools, and community organisations to ensure that all students achieve quality educational outcomes and that partnership initiatives are inclusive of the needs and aspirations of students.
