The Role

We believe in the talent and strength of our team, and as we continue to grow, we are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join our Brisbane Head Office.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise during the detailed engineering phase of energy storage and solar energy projects to meet project objectives, client requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Ensure the safe integration of electrical systems into final project designs, focusing on technical, safety, and quality considerations while optimising project schedule and cost-efficiency.
• Lead and manage the technical review and verification of electrical design documentation for energy storage and solar PV projects.
• Certify internally produced documentation in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Review technical documentation, including specifications, engineering drawings, and system manuals from suppliers or third parties.
• Evaluate technical proposals to ensure continuous improvement of energy storage and solar PV solutions within the company.
• Collaborate with internal departments on BESS and PV projects throughout development, tendering, execution, and operations phases.
• Ensure that designs conform to all safety, environmental, construction, commissioning, and operational requirements.
• Define and design electrical systems for energy storage and PV projects, including DC, LV, MV, and interfacing with HV design and grid connection.
• Develop technical solutions to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, including certification processes.
• Communicate with stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and internal teams, to explain designs, address queries, and ensure satisfaction.
• Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to address potential issues affecting project delivery.
• Foster effective collaboration and knowledge sharing between engineering teams in Australia and Spain to optimise project outcomes.
• Assist the Procurement team with technical validations to ensure purchased materials and services meet project requirements.

Skills and Knowledge

• In-depth understanding of electrical system design, including DC, LV, MV, and HV interfaces for energy storage and solar PV projects.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to energy storage and solar PV projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (intermediate level).
• Knowledge of engineering software such as CDEGS or ETAP is advantageous.
• Ability to identify project risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and internal teams.
• Proven ability to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications and Experience

• Electrical or Electronic Engineering Degree.
• Chartered Engineer status (e.g., RPEng) is desirable but not mandatory.
• Junior Level: 1-3 years of experience in electrical design, ideally with exposure to renewable energy projects or related infrastructure.
• Senior Level: 5+ years of experience in electrical design, with demonstrated expertise in managing project phases from concept through to commissioning and interfacing with multiple disciplines.
