About the role

As a Lead Data & Machine Learning Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining our data and machine learning frameworks. You’ll lead a team of skilled data engineers and work closely with stakeholders to ensure high-quality project delivery and utilise your expertise to help drive the evolution of our AI and data engineering capabilities, supporting projects primarily across our Retail division.

What you’ll do

  • Develop a metadata-driven ELT / ETL framework for efficient data processing and seamless data flow
  • Establish ML frameworks, optimise pipelines, and apply MLOps for automation and performance monitoring
  • Create data models that support business intelligence, analytics, and decision-making
  • Manage and coach data engineers to foster skill development, best practices, and high-quality project delivery
  • Work with stakeholders to align priorities, maintain platform performance, and ensure data governance compliance

Your experience

Proven track record in designing and developing metadata-driven ELT frameworks Hands-on experience in building, training, and supporting machine learning models Expertise in developing Databricks, Python, Scala, or Java code for large-scale cloud-based data warehouses using Spark, Kafka, Hive, and MapReduce Strong experience in test-driven development, data modelling (Kimball), and modernising legacy data infrastructure Experience in machine learning, MLOps, and developing AI-driven frameworks
