About the role
The purpose of this role is to conduct high-level psychosocial assessments, and brief interventions beyond routine level of practice responding to consumers and their families/carers who are impacted by Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Service circumstances. The role undertakes duties of a complex and varied nature with clinical decisions based on valid and reliable evidence and is recognised as a reference point for other clinicians in the team. The Social Work Senior also collaborates with others to provide clinical and discipline leadership through professional advocacy and clinical governance which includes providing professional supervision and engaging in service development initiatives.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Ability to apply high level knowledge and skills in social work theories, appropriate legislation, procedures and policies relevant to the AOD service context and skills beyond routine practice in social work assessment and interventions with consumers and their families/carers who have complex needs.
- Ability to deliver and improve clinical services of a complex and varied nature where principles, procedures, techniques and methods require adaptation or modification with relative autonomy, initiative and professional judgement.
- Investment to a service (including team and discipline) through identified contributions resulting in improved service provision, better client outcomes and discipline specific activities including the provision of supervision to students and social workers.
- High level clinical leadership qualities recognised at service level to assess, guide and contribute to implementation of innovative and evidence based clinical practices.
- Capacity to negotiate complex clinical and professional situations requiring a high level professional and ethical skills in managing conflict while promoting collegiality and integrity within the service.

- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
