VAGO helps to hold the Victorian Government accountable by conducting financial and performance audits and assurance reviews of public sector agencies and reporting the results to Parliament.

The Corporate Services Business Unit is responsible for providing support to all of VAGO. Corporate Services is made up of the following teams:

• Information Technology and Communications
• Finance
• Human Resources
• Data Analytics and Systems Assurance

The Accountant is part of the Finance team, the role we are offering is a 12-month fixed-term contract.

• Reconcile the bank accounts of the organisation.
• Process accounts payable invoices and transactions and prepare fortnightly accounts payable payruns.
• Prepare and process accounts receivable invoices and transactions.
• Prepare and submit periodic returns such as BAS, payroll tax, FBT.
• Process payroll transactions and prepare fortnightly payroll payruns.
• Assist in period close processes such as posting journals, key monthly account reconciliations, monthly financial and management reports.
• Assist in preparing any legislative or regulatory reporting requirements.
• Assist in preparing and reconciling Department of Treasury and Finance reporting requirements.
• Assist in the completing data feeds to the Department of Treasury and Finance.
• Monitor shared finance inbox and assist in addressing and resolving queries from internal and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of business improvement projects as required.
• Maintain VAGO's key financial systems.
• Assist the Finance team and Chief Financial Officer with any other ad-hoc finance related tasks and procedures.

Who you are

We're looking for professionals with 3+ years of experience working within the accounting, finance or business function.

In addition, you:

• Have detailed knowledge of relevant financial frameworks and standards
• Possess demonstrated experience in financial management, integrated computer-based accounting systems and financial management applications.
• Able to effectively communicate with a range of stakeholders at VAGO and provide clear and accurate advice regarding the finance function.
• Can maintain concise and accurate recording systems and help to drive overall improvements across the finance function.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in a field such as Accounting, Business or related field.
