Position Overview
As a Graduate Accountant, you will work closely with senior accountants and the broader finance team, gaining hands-on experience across various accounting functions. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop a strong foundation in financial reporting, tax compliance, auditing, and general accounting practices while contributing to the overall success of the business.
In this role, you will be involved in key financial processes, including:
- Assisting with the preparation of financial statements and management reports
- Supporting tax compliance activities, including BAS, GST, and income tax reporting
- Assisting with audit preparations and ensuring adherence to relevant financial regulations
- Conducting reconciliations and reviewing financial transactions for accuracy
- Supporting month-end and year-end closing processes
- Assisting in budgeting and forecasting activities as required
Your initial focus will be on supporting the finance team with daily compliance tasks, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial operations. Over time, as you develop your technical skills and understanding of the business, your responsibilities will expand to include financial activities across all seven entities within the group.
Apex is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual who is eager to learn and grow within the organization. This role is ideal for someone who is pursuing or planning to undertake ICAA or CPA accreditation and is committed to building a long-term career in accounting.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist with data entry of supplier invoices, ensuring all invoices match purchase orders.
- Reconcile supplier accounts, following up on missing documents with suppliers.
- Support the posting of customer receipts and reconciliation of accounts.
- Assist in preparing financial statements, reports, and reconciliations.
- Support tax compliance reporting, including GST, BAS, FBT, and income tax lodgements.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Maintain accurate financial records and perform data entry tasks.
- Participate in audit work and the compilation of audit files.
- Manage intercompany transaction processing across all seven entities within the group.
- Collaborate with various departments to support financial decision-making.
- Stay updated on accounting standards and industry regulations.
- Perform ad hoc tasks to support both the Finance Team and the wider business.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Candidates must be currently undertaking or planning to commence studies toward ICAA or CPA accreditation.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the entire Microsoft 365 suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
