Your role
As the R&D Scientist, you will be responsible for managing the existing technology that falls into the Lawn and Garden categories by ensuring our existing portfolio of products has horticultural support. This role will see you working closely with other functions within the Yates business including finance, operations, distribution, marketing, sales and procurement in the delivery and execution of key projects.
In this hands-on role, you will provide technical support for consumer inquiries about product ingredients and usage whilst simultaneously leveraging your problem solving skills to address any production, shelf life, stability, and product quality issues. You’ll have the opportunity use your scientific knowledge and work on practical applications using your experience in designing and running trials that deliver results and positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with suppliers and the Yates Supply Chain teams to enable supply continuity, and minimise disruption and supply risk
- Plan and execute trials regimes in the lab, greenhouse and external trial facilities to substantiate the performance attributes
- Compile information to obtain product registrations/approvals and maintain compliance with legislation and contractual requirements for all applicable jurisdictions
- Conduct hazardous risk assessments and risk mitigation plans for raw materials

Skills & Experience
- Tertiary Qualification in Horticulture and/or equivalent experience in an R&D role
- Strong problem-solving skills and methodical approach
- Strong data analysis skills
- Ability to design product application trials, document findings and deliver results
- Superior communication and collaboration skills and the ability to influence outcomes
- Technical aptitude and ability to translate data into consumer friendly content
