The Department of Lands, Planning and Environment (DLPE) was established with a clear vision that the Northern Territory’s natural assets are managed sustainably for the benefit of all. The Department leads a strategic land resource assessment program that underpins land use planning, economic development, improved land management and conservation initiatives.
Positioned within DLPE, the Land Assessment Branch is recruiting a Principal Land Resource Officer / Scientist to lead field-based project teams that map and describe land resources, conduct soil and land resource assessment and mapping projects, and provide high-level scientific information and advice to industry stakeholders including; land managers, land use planners and agricultural and environmental consultants. This is a unique opportunity that will allow you to experience working across the Northern Territory.
To be successful, you require relevant scientific qualifications, on-ground experience and knowledge of Australian guidelines and classification systems, and demonstrated ability to provide scientific land related advice on developments. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with scientific, non-scientific and Traditional Owners, and the ability to obtain a manual NT Driver’s licence and operate a four-wheel drive in off-road conditions is essential.
