Anglicare Sydney is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Financial Analyst to join our dynamic team based at Macquarie Park. This role is essential for overseeing financial tasks, ensuring accurate recording, reporting, and compliance with regulatory requirements. As part of our finance team, you will assist in analysing complex financial data, maintaining the general ledger, and contributing to the success of financial audits.

In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and reviewing work documents for audits, meeting with external auditors, and supporting the team in streamlining the audit process. You will have the opportunity to lead initiatives, improve processes, and drive continuous financial improvements across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting: support the team to prepare accurate and timely internal and external financial reporting requirements. Ensure all regulatory requirements are met.

Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for process enhancements, including systems, controls, and procedures.

Project Management: Lead financial projects to improve organizational efficiency and deliver optimal results.

Accruals & Expense Allocations: Own accrual processing and drive process changes in this area. Ensure accrual processes are continuously reviewed and optimised, balancing stakeholder business needs with respect to accuracy and timeliness of calculations.

Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Oversee balance sheet reconciliations across the organisation, ensuring formats are streamlined, reconciling items are managed and cleared in a timely manner with their financial impact understood and managed. Ensure reporting is accurately represented in accordance with accounting standards and process hurdles are overcome and improved.

Financial Assessment: Conduct thorough financial assessments to support decision-making and strategy formulation. Partner with management to support improvements in financial performance.

Technical Accounting: act as a technical lead assisting the team with accounting matters.

Audit Support: Assist in preparing for and reviewing work documents for financial audits, engage with external auditors, and support the finance team in expediting the audit process.

Leadership: Strong leadership skills with a passion for supporting and developing team members.

Time Management: Proven ability to multitask, manage competing priorities, and work under pressure.

Stakeholder Management: Excellent communicator with effective stakeholder management skills.

Financial Analysis: High proficiency in interpreting complex financial data and providing actionable insights.

Adaptability: Ability to swiftly adapt to changing regulations and business requirements.

Process Improvement: Experience in initiating change and implementing process improvements.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

CA/CPA qualification or equivalent.

Strong technical accounting knowledge, including knowledge of accounting standards.

Proven track record in delivering financial projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior accounting role, preferably in a large and complex organization.

Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.

Experience working with auditors and preparing audit documentation.
