About the Role
A senior management opportunity is available for an experienced Facilities Manager to join AHL. We are seeking a skilled and highly motivated professional to lead the facilities management function to support the 24/7 operation of our portfolio of 42 hostels across Australia. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the position has primary responsibility for the management, procurement and delivery of a significant program of maintenance and capital improvement projects across our hostel network. The role includes leading a small team managing projects and contracts for the provision of building services and property maintenance and improvements.

About You
The successful applicant will have superior project management skills and be highly experienced in strategic and operational facilities and asset management, including compliance with WHS, security and environmental management requirements and industry standards, asset planning, property management and maintenance, financial management, procurement and contract management.
The key duties of the position include
Facilities management leadership
  • Provide strategic leadership, management, and guidance across the AHL property portfolio to support effective and efficient delivery of AHL's accommodation services.
  • Provide high quality specialist advice on facilities and asset management.
  • Manage the provision of facilities services and projects by the AHL facilities team and contracted service providers.
  • Manage AHL's facilities budget and regularly report on expenditure and commitments.
Lead a small, high-performing team to deliver quality outcomes
  • Guide, mentor and manage team members to maximise their contribution to effective service delivery.
  • Positively influence and contribute to a service and team culture that focuses on meeting business needs.
  • Build staff capability and review staff performance by providing consistent and regular feedback in accordance with AHL's performance management framework.
  • Implement strategies to engage, develop and retain high performing staff.
  • Manage the provision of facilities services outside business hours as required.
Ensure effective governance and compliance with legislation and policy
  • Identify and effectively manage the facilities risk profile in accordance with AHL's Risk management framework.
  • Establish and implement governance frameworks and reporting systems to deliver facilities services and projects within budget and on-time.
  • Work collaboratively with AHL's WHS team to ensure compliance with WHS guidelines, policies, and legislation relating to contractors; work permits, job safety analyses; standard working procedures and contractor reporting.
  • Ensure AHL facilities are managed in accordance with jurisdictional legislative and compliance requirements (in each jurisdiction) that the company operates.
  • Ensure all procurement is undertaken in accordance with company financial delegations and procurement policies.
  • Support the company to implement appropriate and effective physical security risk controls and measures.
Develop and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders
  • Work in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to deliver facilities services that enhance hostel amenity, meet business needs, drive efficiency and reduce our environmental impact.
  • Work with the corporate and operational areas of the business to identify, develop and implement cost effective and resident focused facilities improvements.
  • Manage new and existing service provider contracts to maximise value for money, increase procurement from First Nations businesses, realise cost efficiencies and contribute to effective service delivery.
