The key duties of the position include
The Role
The APS 6 Contract Management Officer will work under the guidance of the Commercial Manager to undertake contract management, procurement and financial support tasks associated with contracts managed by Landing Craft Branch.
Duties include:
  • Assistance to manage, monitor, assess and report on contractor performance.
  • Develop request for quotation and tasking statements, utilise standing offer panels and evaluate supplier submissions.
  • Provide guidance, advice and support services throughout the procurement lifecycle of contracting activities including the coordination of legal and financial services.
  • Review and assess commercial documentation.
  • Develop and/or amend contract change proposals and purchase orders.
  • Perform contract governance and financial reporting activities.
  • Conduct the cost review and coordinate the payment clearances of supplier invoices.

About our Team
Landing Craft Branch is accountable for the delivery of the LND8710 Program which comprises three phases to deliver amphibious logistics vehicles, medium and heavy landing craft, and small close support craft for the Australian Defence Force.
The new fleet will provide shore-to-shore, ship-to-shore and over-the-shore capability to manoeuvre and sustain the Joint Force in restricted littoral and riverine environments.
The Business Directorate supports the Director General Landing Craft and senior project leaders to meet their corporate and governance obligations. It operates in a dynamic, collaborative and agile work environment and contributes to key strategic outcomes.
This position offers a range of exciting opportunities as one of the newest Defence and Government procurements. This work is challenging and requires a degree of flexibility, innovation, and considerable collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders (including the Major Service Provider) in order to achieve the capability requirements effectively and efficiently.

  • Strong background in complex commercial transactions and policy, procurement and contract management.
  • Solid commercial acumen with a demonstrated understanding of contract fundamentals and supplier relationship management.

  • Effective data analysis, problem solving and organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to meet stakeholder expectations and to achieve outcomes.
  • Understand and apply legal principles, legislative and mandatory policy compliance obligations and commercial risk and performance requirements.
  • Critical thinking skills, with the ability to be assertive in decision making.
  • Act with confidence, professionalism and the highest level of integrity when engaging with all stakeholders.
