- $123,444 - $144,386 + 15.4% Superannuation

The Licensing team is the Australian Securities & Investment Commission's front-line gatekeeper for our regulated participants. The team is responsible for assessing applications from those seeking a financial services or consumer credit licence, or to become registered to provide company audit and SMSF audit services to Australian consumers and businesses.
The function involves assessing that applicants are fit and proper, have the knowledge and skills to provide the relevant services, have adequate financial, human and technological resources, and appropriate systems and procedures to perform their roles efficiently, honestly and fairly.
The role
As an Analyst/Lawyer you will be required to provide technical expertise and legal advice in assessing moderate and more complex Australian Financial Services Licence and Australian Credit Licence applications.
You will be responsible for:
- Assisting with drafting papers and reports and contributing to financial services reform proposals, ASIC initiated and cross agency projects.
- Supervising the assessment of licence applications and assisting junior lawyers within the team.
- Preparing referrals and briefs and providing support at AAT and Court proceedings.
- Dealing with enquiries relating to assessment and decision making.
- Assisting and taking a proactive approach to refining and implementing Licensing process improvements and changes to regulatory guidance.
- Supervising delivery of internal priorities or functions at the direction of the Senior Manager.
About you
With your demonstrated experience working as a lawyer or an analyst within a corporate, consulting, government or academic environment, you will have the technical expertise and specialist skills to conduct analysis on the application of laws in relation to the financial services sector. Your experience includes high quality written and oral communication skills and the ability to effectively engage with various stakeholders.
You will also demonstrate:
- Bachelor of Laws and a current practising certificate.
- Relevant knowledge and experience in the financial services industry.
- Experience in researching, analysing and interpreting complex information, policy and legislation.
