This is a temporary fulltime project position until 31 December 2025, unless otherwise determined. Base location of this role is Central Office, Brisbane.

The Director reports to the Executive Director, Schools & Student Support.

Your Role:

As the Director, you will lead a coordinated approach to delivering the leading identified Schools & Student Support Division initiatives to reduce, prevent and respond to bullying.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the development, implementation, and monitoring of state-wide initiatives, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and priorities to support student engagement and inclusion.
  • Overseeing initiatives aimed at addressing bullying.
  • Shaping and influence policies and procedures that address key issues.
  • Providing high-level advice to senior departmental officers, government agencies, and stakeholders on matters relating addressing bullying.
  • Ensuring optimal use of human and financial resources, including the management of State and Commonwealth funds, to meet agreed objectives and achieve measurable outcomes.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Managing, mentoring, and inspiring a multidisciplinary team to deliver outcomes in a dynamic environment, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Preparing and reviewing briefing materials, correspondence, and reports for the Minister, senior departmental officers, and other key entities, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and relevance.
  • Modelling and promoting the use of digital tools and practices to improve productivity, enhance communication, and support implementation.
  • Continuously monitoring, evaluating, and refining the activities, strategies, and policies to ensure they remain effective and aligned with the project goals and priorities.
  • Advocating for and leading initiatives that address barriers to learning.

About You:

As the Director, Schools and Student Support, you will bring:

  • Proven ability to lead, inspire, and implement state-wide initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of educational policies and frameworks, with the ability to design and deliver innovative strategies to support diverse student groups.
  • Capacity to navigate a dynamic environment, responding quickly to changing demands and priorities.
  • Ability to build strong relationships, influence stakeholders, and communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Experience working with diverse teams, government bodies, and communities to achieve shared goals.
  • A commitment to equity in education, ensuring every student has access to supportive, engaging learning environments.
  • A proactive approach to overcoming challenges and delivering practical, sustainable solutions.
