The Master Plumber’ Association of Tasmania (MPAT) has an exciting and new opportunity for an Industry Engagement Officer (2 -3 year Term Contract) to join their team in Hobart.
Reporting to the Executive Officer, you will be responsible for industry engagement by increasing workforce awareness, attraction and retention of participants in the Tasmanian plumbing industry with a specific focus supporting workforce priorities. This position will enhance and promote the collaboration between TasTAFE and industry - through MPAT - in supporting the delivery of outcomes that align with current and future demand.
More specifically, this role includes the following functions:
- Support the coordination of Certificate II in Plumbing (Pre-Apprenticeship) activities that will enhance the learner experience and support their journey into entry-level employment opportunities in the sector. Activities would include:
- Liaise with employers to coordinate work experience/placements for Certificate II learners.
- Assist eligible and suitable learners with connections (i.e. market and promoting) to entry-level employment opportunities in the plumbing industry, with a focus on apprenticeships.
- Bring industry into the Certificate II program and connect them with learners as they progress with their training.
- Work with High-Vis Army partners and TasTAFE’s Engagement team to promote plumbing careers in schools and at relevant events.
- Complement TasTAFE’s structure for the portfolio management of employers with multiple plumbing apprentices at TasTAFE (may extend beyond major employers depending on capacity).
- Contributing to consistent and structured employer engagement and communications, assisting with increasing apprentice retention, etc.
- Working with TasTAFE Engagement staff to assist with the coordination and facilitation of the ‘Industry Expert Pilot’ initiative.
- Work with key industry stakeholders to support the increase engagement and use of the Water and Energy Trades Centre of Excellence to host CPD and related events that support sector participation, awareness and growth.
- Supporting and coordinating return to industry opportunities for TasTAFE teaching staff.
- Facilitate the MPAT Education Sub-Committee
