The Opportunity
The Insurance Officer is accountable to the Unit Manager, Claims, Debt Recovery and Insurance and is responsible for managing the Department’s broad insurance portfolio and providing information and advice about a range of matters relating to policy, coverage strategy, risk, and insurance management.

The Insurance Officer provides timely and professional advice and services through end-to-end process of insurance renewal in the Department. The Insurance Officer is required to liaise with relevant internal and external stakeholders, manage enquiries as well as update and develop procedural documentation as required.

The Insurance Officer also works closely with others to support and enhance a culture attuned to risk management.

About You
Do you have proven expertise and a thorough understanding of insurance placements and risk management? Can you demonstrate a contemporary knowledge of the discipline, including insights into the issues, risks, trends, and government policies that influence the field? With exceptional communication skills, you will need to effectively engage with stakeholders, provide accurate and professional advice, and successfully navigate conflict resolution when necessary.

Demonstrating the ability to work under limited direction, you will independently or collaboratively plan and prioritise tasks, ensuring performance outcomes are achieved within deadlines. Your high-level analytical and research skills will enable you to evaluate complex information, develop clear, insightful reports, and deliver recommendations for time-sensitive decisions.

Qualifications/Experience
Relevant insurance industry experience.

Special Conditions
The successful candidate will be required to provide a National Police Check (NPC) prior to employment with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.

Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.

Remuneration
ASO5 - $85,790 to $95,413 pa + superannuation.
