About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the CAMHS team as an Aboriginal Social & Emotional Wellbeing Worker, where you will be responsible for:

  • Deliver culturally responsive child and adolescent mental health care to consumers with complex needs, and address inconsistencies between practice and policy.
  • Address cultural safety and undertake culturally informed engagement, assessment, education/advocacy, counselling, and group work, Ensuring optimal consumer care.
  • Engage in ongoing consultation, liaison, and co-work with other CAMHS disciplines, government, and non-government organisations.
  • Utilize expert cultural knowledge, skills, and experience to direct, support, orient, and educate other staff.
  • Lead and participate in action research projects, quality improvement activities, and policy development within the practice setting.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated ability in integrating Aboriginal cultural experiences, philosophy, and practices into mental health services for Indigenous youth and families.
  • Proven expertise in engaging and establishing rapport with Indigenous youth and families to address their needs effectively.
  • Vast experience in conducting assessments and implementing interventions for Indigenous youth and families with complex mental health challenges.
  • Demonstrated understanding of cultural, social, and emotional wellbeing issues impacting Indigenous youth and families, and government policy impacts on mental health outcomes.
  • Proficiency in utilizing appropriate counselling and group work modalities tailored for Indigenous youth and families.
