A HSEQ Advisor & HSEQ Associate
Reporting to the HSEQ Manager the successful HSEQ Advisor and HSEQ Associate will collaboratively promote HSEQ requirements to all Saltires head office and site-based personnel including Contractors.
The successful HSEQ Advisor will predominantly be based on-site which may include regional locations from time to time, with an uplift as appropriate.
The HSEQ Associate will support the HSEQ activities whilst sharing time between the head office and project sites.

The Roles
HSEQ Advisor Role
The HSEQ Advisor will initiate, promote and drive a positive HSEQ culture within the workplace, they will conduct site inductions and provide support to any new Saltire employees and contractors and ensure all records are maintained. You will ensure all incident events are reported, recorded, escalated and then investigated as per Saltires standards and procedures.
The successful candidate will assist Operations with the implementation of the HSEQ management plan and programs, be involved in field leadership, mentorship, and engagement with the workforce. The HSEQ Advisor will be able to build strong working relationships with all personnel on site and participate in incident investigations. The HSEQ Advisor will also conduct auditing, field inspections and risk assessments in a timely manner.
Objectives of this role
• Influence safe behaviours and safe processes
• Implementing HSEQ policies, procedures, and guidelines
• Ensuring the highest safety compliance standards and a healthy work setting for staff, visitors and vendors.
• Monitoring and staying updated on HSEQ regulations, codes and standards applicable to the industry.
• Supporting emergency preparedness and response efforts, including developing emergency plans and procedures.
• Investigating accidents, incidents and near-miss events to determine root causes and implementing corrective measures to prevent a recurrence.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to promote HSEQ initiatives and ensure the integration of safety practices into daily operations.
• Establishing and maintaining effective communication channels with external organisations, such as government bodies, safety organisations and insurance companies.
About the HSEQ Advisor:
• Qualification; Minimum Cert IV with Diploma preferred, Bachelors highly regarded
• 3+ years of experience in a HSEQ -related role, 5+ years in Construction
• Proficiency in HSEQ auditing, inspection and identifying sources of harm.
• Well-versed in creating emergency response plans tailored to various scenarios.
• Familiar with industry best practice.
• In-depth knowledge of HSEQ regulations, standards and best practices.
• Expertise in using and maintaining safety and emergency equipment
HSEQ Associate Role
As a HSEQ Associate, you will collaboratively maintain a culture of safety excellence and safeguard compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. This comprises of effectively supporting the HSEQ Manager and HSEQ Advisor implementing HSEQ programs and protocols. You will aid in responding to employee HSEQ concerns, provide guidance and support in resolving issues and improve overall HSEQ performance. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail are essential part of the associate role.
About the HSEQ Associate:
The successful candidate will have:
• Certificate IV in Workplace Health & Safety and some previous experience in a HSEQ role, preferably in construction
Or
• Be a recent graduate with a bachelors degree in WHS or a related field
• Strong interpersonal skills with the desire to build meaningful relationships at work.
