Job Description.
We’re looking for an Accountant to join our Business Advisory Division. In this role, you’ll provide critical support to clients and advisers, whilst developing your technical expertise, growing your advisory skills and building the foundations for strong client relationships. We believe the numbers only matter because the people behind them do… so expect lots of client interaction.

What you’ll be doing.
- Working closely with clients - providing proactive updates, addressing their queries and creating a positive and memorable client experience. Running client meetings for individuals and smaller business clients.
- Collaboratively with your team - driving the processes that underpin our accounting, tax and business advisory services.
- Working with colleagues across the firm - Collaborating in your Integrated Advice Team to ensure recommendations are delivered to clients.
- Prepping for meetings - conducting pre-meeting client phone calls, fact-finds and needs analyses, preparing agendas, slide decks and meeting materials.
- Attending client meetings - shadowing a Senior Adviser is a great way to introduce you to our clients, help you develop your advisory skills and provide you with first-hand information you’ll require for technical tasks.
- Performing advisory tasks - Assisting and leading engagements around tax planning, cashflow and activity based forecast models, preparing and attending performance management meetings, preparation of business valuations. A fundamental understanding of bookkeeping and how client data is presented and review of live accounting data file function.
- Performing technical tasks - you’ll be preparing advice documentation for clients, in line with internal procedure and relevant legislation, including:
- Preparing tax returns, financial statements and Business Activity Statements, along with all relevant working papers, checklists and evidentiary materials.
- Exposure to a variety of tax matters including GST, CGT, FBT and Div7a.
- Reconciling accounts, including loan accounts and R&D Offsets.
- Consolidating family accounts with complex structures and inter-entity interactions and relationships.
- Liaising with clients and external parties, including the ATO, to manage tax enquiries.
- Providing critical workflow support and regulatory functions - planning and managing jobs, allocating tasks, maintaining detailed file notes, completing checklists, following up engagement, fee agreements and invoicing etc.
- Following and constantly improving process and procedure - ensuring internal functions and outgoing advice are technically and legislatively sound, meet internal ‘next practice’ standards and foster a culture of compliance to relevant regulation.

- Proven respect for process and procedure, suited to our highly-regulated profession.
- Tech know-how - solid spreadsheet skills and good understanding of Xero (incl Add-Ons) is required. Exposure to G-Suite for Business, Class Super, Now Infinity, Practice Ignition is advantageous.

Do you have the tickets?
- Education - Bachelor Degree in Business, Commerce or Finance.
- Qualification - CPA / CA studies commenced or about to commence (advantageous).
- Experience - 3-4 Years experience in public practice.
