Summary:
The ER Nurse is responsible for providing efficient and effective care to patients in the emergency room. They must assess, triage, prioritize, and stabilize critically ill patients. The job requires extensive experience in providing emergency care for patients of all ages and backgrounds.
Responsibilities:
- Assess patients' needs and gather their medical history to determine an appropriate plan of care.
- Administer medication and treatment as required, following established protocols and ensuring accurate documentation of care provided.
- Monitor, interpret, and document vital signs and changes in a patient's condition.
- Communicate with patients and their families, providing education on diagnosis, treatment, and post-hospital care.
- Coordinate and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure quality and continuity of care.
- Participate in emergency response drills and training programs to ensure preparedness for critical incidents.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emergency medical care techniques, healthcare practices, and hospital policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Nursing degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid RN license to practice in the state where the job is located.
- Experience working in emergency rooms, intensive care units or critical care environments.
- Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to make quick and accurate decisions in stressful situations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) may be required.
- Dedication to provide high-quality care to patients, including maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards.
