About the opportunity

IFYS has an exciting opportunity for a Youth Development Workers to join ‘The Old Church Youth Accommodation’ program on a fixed term contract until the end of August 2025.

The Old Church Youth Accommodation program provides young people aged 16 to 25 with safe accommodation, as well as services that enable positive education and employment outcomes, to help them build careers and transition into their own accommodation.

Reporting to the Coordinator, the Youth Development Worker will provide case management and support to young people, utilising a client-centred and strengths-based framework to facilitate their transition to independent living.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide client -centred and strengths-based case management, coaching and support to young people to facilitate their transition to independence
  • Work collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders and services and maintain effective working relationships
  • Participate in the development, coordination and implementation of pre-employment/living skills programs and facilitate house meetings with young people.
  • Ensure the service provides a safe, efficient, hygienic and comfortable environment. Assist the Coordinator to manage and maintain all aspects of the client’s tenancy and timely completion of administrative duties

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience in case management within homelessness, transitional housing, or youth services
  • High understanding of and commitment to working in a client-centred, strengths-based, and trauma-informed framework
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with clients, staff, and external stakeholders
  • A high level of computer and systems literacy
  • Tertiary qualification in a related field (desirable)

Must hold or be willing to obtain if successful:

  • Valid Queensland driver's license with no restrictions
  • QLD Working with Children Check (Paid Blue Card)
  • Licensed Care Suitability Check (LCS2)
  • National Crime Check (A new check will be completed through IFYS systems)

Other requirements:

If progressed after interview stage, you will be requested to provide the details of two-line managers to provide reference checks (this must include your current employer)

Rostered shifts for this position:

Week 1

Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs- 8:00am to 5:00 pm

Sunday -12:30pm to 9:00pm

Week 2

Wednesday- 1:30pm to 4:30pm

Friday- 8:00am to 5:00pm

Sat, Sun- 4:30pm to 8:30am (sleep over)

Week 3

Wednesday- 2:30pm to 8:30am (sleep over)

Thursday- 4:30pm to 8:30am (sleep over)

Sat, Sun- 8:00am to 5:00pm

Week 4

Wed, Thurs- 12:30pm to 9:00pm

Friday- 4:30pm to 8:30am (sleep over)
