Description:
The main responsibilities of the Business Development Manager are;
- Proactively generate new business opportunities through cold outreach and referrals from your existing network and assigned merchant portfolio.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and engagement.
- Attend industry events to stay informed on market trends and expand connections within target segments.
- Drive adoption of product suite within your portfolio by educating merchants on relevant solutions.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including Marketing, Partnerships, Merchant Servicing, Inside Sales, and oOn-boarding, to convert opportunities and enhance customer experience.
- Address merchant concerns efficiently by working closely with support teams to resolve issues.
- Provide valuable customer insights and feedback to the wider business to ensure the voice of the customer is heard.
- Maintain a structured approach to regular merchant communication, fostering long-term business relationships.
Requirements:
A successful Business Development Manager should have:
- A bachelor's degree and experience in the e-commerce industry, either selling to e-commerce brands or working within one.
- A proactive and results-driven professional with a proven track record of generating leads and selling to business owners and C-suite executives.
- Strong relationship-building skills with a solutions-focused approach to client management.
- Excellent communication abilities across phone, email, and face-to-face interactions, with active listening and effective presentation skills.
- Detail-oriented, process-driven, and structured in outreach and engagement strategies.
- Confident in handling objections, navigating tough conversations, and addressing customer concerns.
- Strong time management, task prioritisation, and problem-solving skills.
- A team player who collaborates across departments to enhance client success.
- Adaptable in a fast-paced environment with the ability to quickly learn and apply new product knowledge.
- Experience in the payments industry is a plus.
- Must have the right to work in Australia.
