About the position
Our Lab Technicians and Dispensing team are key members of the wider clinical function, supporting optometrists across our clinics and focusing on providing exceptional customer service to our patients across our Dispensary Services.
As this position is responsible for the efficient processing of prescriptions to exact specifications and general patient facing dispensing duties, previous experience is required. There may be the requirement to work Saturdays to fulfil the requirements of the role.
Accountabilities
- Provide exceptional customer care to patients.
- Assist patients with selection of frames and other dispensary services.
- Measure patients for size of glasses, coordinating frames with facial and eye measurements.
- Verify exactness of finished lenses and spectacles ensuring they meet required standards.
- Read lens and frame specifications from prescriptions, grind, shape, and polish lens blanks ensuring they meet specifications.
- Complete adjustments, repairs, and modifications as required.

Skills and Knowledge
- A passion for and experienced in providing exceptional customer service.
- A flexible attitude, be reliable and comfortable working in a team environment.
- A good telephone manner.
- A second language may be an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in an optical laboratory or willingness to up-skill.
Essential criteria
- Previous dispensing experience is required for this role.
- Motivated to serve the community and people experiencing disadvantage.
- Developed computer skills (including basic Microsoft Office Suite).
