About the role
Leading independent girls’ school, Camberwell Girls Grammar School, presents an opportunity for a Drama Teacher to join our team for 3 weeks at the end of Term 1 (17 March to 4 April 2025) to cover Long Service Leave. You have the option of working part-time (0.8 FTE) or full-time during this period, dependant on your accompanying skill set.
You will be responsible for:
- Delivery of a pre-existing Year 9 Drama curriculum exploring conventions of dramatic storytelling.
- Delivery of a pre-existing Year 10 Theatre elective focused on Ensemble Training and group composition.
- Delivery of VCE Theatre Studies (composite class) material – the students will be working in the Development Stage of their 3.1 Staging Theatre task.
The job can expand to full time with a candidate also willing to take on the following responsibilities:
- After school rehearsal supervision for House Dance (no dance skills required)
- Stage Management responsibility for the House Dance event including a Sunday rehearsal, day performance and evening performance at the end of term.
CGGS teachers have an excellent understanding of effective pedagogical practices and contemporary learning design with strong interpersonal and communication skills. A passion for girls' education is essential for your success.
About you
You will be an enthusiastic and experienced Secondary Drama and VCE Theatre Studies Teacher, capable of creating a safe and inclusive space for our students to explore their creativity, develop their artistic skills, and appreciate the beauty of the performing arts.
You will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Drama and Education
- Previous experience teaching Years 9-10 and VCE Theatre Studies in a school setting
- Confidence leading practical workshops with students
- Experience with production or stage managing shows would be an asset
- Current registration with Victorian Institute of Teaching
