About the role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Officer to join the Blood Bank at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. In this vital role, you will perform a range of diagnostic laboratory functions, including pre-transfusion testing, antenatal serology, antibody investigations, and the dispatch of blood and blood products. You will also contribute to the validation of test results and quality control processes to ensure accurate and timely outcomes that support patient care.

As part of this dynamic environment, you will participate in a 24-hour/7-day roster and on-call duties as needed. With technical expertise in routine testing, you will have the opportunity to further develop your skills to support the day-to-day operations of the Transfusion Service. About You

We’re seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Technical Officer to join our Blood Bank team. You will bring:

  • Strong Communication and Teamwork: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team and follow instructions accurately.
  • Organisational and Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to manage variable workloads, prioritise tasks, and use initiative to solve problems while maintaining high-quality performance.
  • Laboratory Experience and Technical Knowledge: Recent experience in Blood Bank laboratory operations and a solid understanding of basic laboratory principles, science concepts, and safety practices.
  • Commitment to Professional Standards: Familiarity with legislation related to privacy, equal employment opportunity, and workplace health and safety, ensuring compliance and confidentiality.
