About the role
Join the dedicated team at the Royal Adelaide Hospital as a Medical Scientist within the Blood Bank, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring safe and effective transfusion outcomes. Your key responsibilities will include testing and verifying pre-transfusion specimens, conducting antenatal serology and antibody investigations, and overseeing the dispatch of blood and blood products. You will also be responsible for validating quality control results, contributing to accurate and timely diagnostic outcomes that support critical patient care.
In this role, you will apply your scientific expertise to perform routine diagnostic techniques and participate in problem-solving, planning, and result analysis. As a valued team member, you will help drive innovation by contributing to the development, evaluation, and implementation of new techniques and methodologies, ensuring continuous improvement in laboratory processes and patient outcomes. About You
We’re seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented professional to join our Blood Bank team. You will bring:
- Strong Teamwork and Communication: Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment, maintain professional communication, and manage sensitive information responsibly.
- Laboratory Expertise and Problem-Solving: Experience in performing laboratory testing, operating analytical equipment, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining quality standards.
- Time Management and Initiative: Proficiency in prioritising tasks, meeting daily workload targets, and proactively identifying and resolving potential problems.
- Knowledge of Immunohaematology and Standards: Broad understanding of transfusion medicine, quality procedures, and compliance with accreditation and legislative requirements.
