  • Part-time (0.6FTE), fixed term contract until November 2025
  • Commencement Salary : $112,143 pro rata per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

About You

You have demonstrated experience working as a counsellor and are comfortable in delivering short term interventions to students. Building relationships comes easy to you, whether with the University community or community-based services. Continuous improvement is of high importance, and you regularly monitor, evaluate and review service quality and effectiveness.

About the Role

Reporting to the Manager : Counselling, you will provide brief intervention counselling services to individual students, including face to face, telephone, online and crisis counselling, as well as conducting workshops which promote student mental health and wellbeing. The Counsellor also contributes to resource and policy development and works collaboratively across the University to address issues that impact on students learning outcomes.

About the Student Engagement Unit

The Student Engagement Unit (SEU) is responsible for the strategic development and delivery of student facing services that will enhance the on-campus and off-campus student experience to ensure all students, regardless of background and location, have an optimal university experience.

Essential Skills and Experience

Eligibility to register with the Psychology Board of Australia through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and / or the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Significant demonstrated experience as a counsellor, with evidence of a high level of competence in delivering services in a range of settings to individuals or groups Demonstrated experience in online counselling and highly competent in using appropriate technology to deliver effective services Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, equity and social justice within a tertiary education context Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills appropriate to working effectively as a Counsellor in a range of contexts and settings including as part of a team that works flexibly and strategically with students and staff from diverse cultural backgrounds
