Job Description:
As a Lead SQL Server Architect, the candidate will have primary responsibility for managing complex database migrations and handling escalations. The role involves participating in weekly and monthly reviews with the customer, working with the account to meet commitments, requirements, and expectations, and ensuring that all planned upgrades and migrations are delivered on time. The candidate will provide consultation and proactively highlight risks for SQL Server workloads, validate existing processes, migration approaches, and provide recommendations. They will also provide inputs to the automation team for pre and post-check activities and offer post-migration support during the warranty period.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Handle large database upgrade and migration projects.
- Experience in database engineering and design work.
- Database performance tuning experience.
- Strong expertise in AlwaysOn, Replication, and Log Shipping areas.
- Hands-on migration experience in Azure SQL MI and Azure SQL Database.
- Strong operational knowledge in Azure.
Required Candidate Profile:
- Work with customer engineering and design teams to meet commitments, requirements, and expectations.
- Perform knowledge transfer from customer engineering and design teams to understand customer processes and migration approaches.
- Pass on acquired knowledge to SQL Server team members.
- Provide consultation and updates for SQL Server migration.
- Provide post-migration support.
Technical Skills Required:
- Strong expertise in SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2022.
- Performance tuning experience.
- Experience with large SQL Server upgrade and migration projects.
- Hands-on experience with SSMA, DMA, and Azure DMS migration tools.
- Familiarity with Azure PaaS, Windows Server, security delegation, and storage components.
Specific Domain/Technical/Functional Skills:
- Experience in one of the following: Wireless, Datacom, Optical Networks, Intelligent Networks, VoIP, Switching Systems, Telecom Service Provider Applications, WAP Gateway, Bluetooth Solutions, VLSI/System Design, OS/Platform Technologies, B2B/B2C/Mobile commerce, Web Security, CRM/SCM/ERP, Data warehousing, Client Server/Mainframe IT Infrastructure, Sales & Marketing, HR/Recruitment, Quality/Administration.
- Preferred with Tech domain experience.
- Preferred with experience on ITIL-based delivery, preferably with ITIL Foundation Certification.
- Windows and Linux operation experience.
- Must have Azure SQL MI, SQL Database, AlwaysOn, Replication, and Log Shipping experience.
Key Criteria for Evaluation Required for Senior/Functional Hires:
- Azure SQL upgrade and migration experience
- Must be a security-cleared Australian Citizen
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
