JMES is partnering with a private global investment firm to assist them with the hire of a Research, Insights and Investment Intelligence Partner who will work closely with the existing team as they invest a pool of permanent capital across public and private growth businesses on behalf of a select group of investors. This newly created role aims to build a robust and forward-thinking Research function that will deliver first-class insights across both the existing portfolio companies and the market/key sectors more broadly, both domestically across Australia and globally.

The Research Partner will enable the investment team to go deeper and have more rigor on the companies within their portfolio, keeping the team fully updated on business developments and immersing themselves in the industries, sectors, and competitor landscapes. The role offers a broad scope, allowing the Research Partner to shape and drive not only this role but also the research function more broadly in the future, building a driving force within the firm to assist the investment team with their decision-making.

While your professional background may come from various disciplines, it is imperative to demonstrate strong business curiosity and a proactive approach that will see you dig deep for knowledge and insights. You will manage large volumes of data and information, synthesizing this into workable content for the Partners. You will be deliberate in tracking investment theses and proactive in your monitoring, building your own relationships and proprietary channel checks. We expect that your professional career, likely 5-10 years of experience, could have been gained in various fields, including strategic/management consulting, market/data research, or a commercial role within a fast-growing business, but we encourage applications from a broad source.

Select international and domestic travel to attend a range of industry and business conferences will be required in this role. The ability to work autonomously, problem-solve, think strategically, and create and implement process frameworks is essential. You will be an energetic and natural relationship builder, comfortable interacting with a diverse range of individuals and groups, with a deep-seated desire and passion to learn.

The Research Partner will not be required to understand the businesses' financials in detail or participate in portfolio investment decisions. However, through delivering comprehensive research, the Research Partner will be an integral partner to the investment team, enabling them to make better-informed decisions.
