In the Australian market, our HRS Insurtech product provides an accommodation digital-first platform providing a seamless experience for insurance policyholders and carriers. HRS Australia is the leading provider of accommodation solutions to the Property and Casualty segment of the Insurance industry. It has 10+ years’ experience and a proven track record of delivering through crisis events such as floods, bushfires, storms, and cyclones when claimants are at their most vulnerable. Our Insurtech platform is the key to our HRS success, and we commit to building out additional platform functionality, integrate Agentic AI and deliver superior data insights to our insurance customers and claimants.
POSITIONWe are looking for a Commercial Director Insurtech (all genders) based in Sydney. The role will oversee and drive the strategic commercial activities of our Insurtech business, playing a key role in scaling revenue, expanding market share, and managing customer relationships. You will work closely with sales, marketing, product, and finance teams to develop and implement commercial strategies, optimize pricing, and accelerate customer acquisition and retention.
The candidate will have a proven track record of delivering sales results within the Insurtech sector in a SaaS environment. With a customer-centric mindset, the individual will have the ability to identify and deliver value for our insurance customers. The role requires a balance of leadership, market insight, and analytical skills to drive business growth and deliver exceptional customer outcomes.
The position will report directly to the Global CEO Insurtech and will support the expansion of the Global HRS Insurtech business.
CHALLENGEStrategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute the commercial strategy to meet revenue targets and align with the company's overall growth objectives.
- Lead the creation of sales forecasts, business plans, and growth strategies for the business unit. This includes effective customer segmentation and pricing models to underpin growth objectives.
- Collaborate with the MD and internal stakeholders to refine and implement a competitive go-to-market strategy.
Market Analysis & Competitor Insights:
- Understand industry trends, customer needs, competitor activities, and opportunities across the Insurtech industry.
- Provide strategic insights and recommendations based on market data to inform product development and commercial strategy.
- Ensure the company stays competitive in its pricing, product offerings, and service delivery.
Revenue Growth & Sales Performance:
- Lead sales to ensure consistent achievement of revenue targets through a strong mix of new customer acquisition and existing customer expansion.
- Drive performance by setting KPIs, monitoring performance metrics, and taking corrective action when necessary.
- Support the sales team in closing large deals and negotiations, ensuring value propositions align with client needs.
Customer & Market Focus:
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and decision-makers.
- Ensure customer satisfaction and retention through regular business reviews, upselling, and value delivery.
- Identify new market opportunities, emerging trends, and customer needs that align with the company's product and service offerings.
- Provide leadership and support to customer experience manager.
Commercial Operations & Process Improvement:
- Ensure the commercial team operates efficiently with streamlined processes and clear communication across departments (sales, marketing, product, customer success).
- Implement best practices in sales operations, including CRM utilization.
- Review and optimize pricing strategies, contract terms, and commercial agreements to maximize profitability.
Financial & Budget Management:
- Work closely with finance and operations teams to ensure effective budget management, pricing strategy, and commercial analysis.
- Lead the development of revenue models, contract terms, and financial negotiations to achieve business goals.

- Experience in moving customers to a SaaS-based pricing structure.

- Ability to think strategically while also being hands-on in executing plans.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex business environments.
- Self-motivated and results-driven, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills at all levels, including executive leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or above.
- Deep understanding of the accommodation travel ecosystem and/or property claims insurance will be a plus.

LOCATION, MOBILITY, INCENTIVEThe role is based in Sydney with a hybrid working model (in-office 4 days per week). The attractive remuneration is in line with the market and, in addition to a fixed monthly salary, will also include an annual bonus.
