Job Opportunity: Executive Vice President of Construction

The EVP will be responsible for leading the renovation and construction processes, from planning through execution, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong communicator with advanced project management skills to contribute to a growing and high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, plan, and coordinate procurement, budgeting, and scheduling activities for multiple renovation projects within your region.
  • Regularly report on project status, ensuring all stakeholders are informed of project progress, challenges, and accomplishments.
  • Oversee the onsite construction teams, ensuring accurate material selections and approvals are obtained from Senior Management.
  • Manage relationships with vendors and subcontractors, ensuring timely procurement and delivery of necessary materials and services.
  • Approve project proposals, scopes, and invoices, and ensure they align with established budgets and schedules.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Pre-Acquisition and Development to define project scope and finalize the construction budget.
  • Guide Project Managers through staffing, budgeting, and scheduling needs, ensuring all project milestones are met.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the performance of your direct reports, including Project Managers and Warehouse Managers.
  • Review and negotiate contracts, ensuring compliance with building codes and safety standards.
  • Act as a key liaison with external teams, ensuring material deliveries are aligned with project timelines.
  • Provide detailed analysis of project variations and action plans to address any deviations from the original schedule.
  • Address potential risks and challenges on-site, making informed decisions to mitigate disruptions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of 5+ direct reports, providing mentorship, performance evaluations, and growth opportunities.
  • Oversee the performance of subcontractors and vendors, ensuring compliance with all contract terms and project requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field (Advanced degree is a plus).
  • 7-10 years of leadership experience in construction management, with a strong preference for multi-family housing experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with planning software (Foundation experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints, project plans, and contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, OSHA regulations, and safety standards across multiple states.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Experience managing budgets, schedules, and resources to drive project success.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure.
  • Ability to travel 50-80% of the time and maintain a flexible work schedule.
  • A valid driver’s license and insurability are required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform standard office tasks, including using a computer and phone.
  • Capability to walk or travel long distances and in various weather conditions while visiting job sites.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
