About This Opportunity

The key function of this position is to provide professional and proficient IT and data analytics support to human research projects being undertaken at the Institute of Molecular Bioscience.
The Human Studies Unit develops and maintains a large Content Management System (CMS) infrastructure to support the recruitment and tracking of biological samples for human research projects. It supports over 200 user accounts and responds to real-time reporting requirements for projects and clinical trials.

This role will support the Human Studies Unit's IT Senior System Developer in providing on-going customization of the CMS to support research projects and assist in managing data security and research governance requirements as well as maintain general housekeeping IT infrastructure.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • System development of CMS to support human research projects with specific requirements

  • Custom module code for additional functionality and to control user access

  • Development of real-time reporting using advanced data analytics methods

  • Assist in the integration of data collection platforms to centralise data capture, analytics and storage

  • Assist in building new and fit for purpose data capture mobile and web applications

  • Front-end development of public-facing webpages

  • Rapid response updates to implement updates required by project teams / laboratory staff and clinicians

  • Maintain and support data security practices for server protection and management of user accounts

  • Assist with preparing reports, presentations, figures for research publications and reports

About You
  • Completion of a degree level qualification in Information Management, Computer Science, Data Science or completion of a Diploma with relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training

  • Experience with programming languages: PHP, Python, R, and HTML

  • Experience with Web technologies and frameworks: Drupal, CSS, REST API, R Markdown, and Django (or similar frameworks).

  • Experience developing web sites and maintaining site pages

  • Proficiency using relevant desktop-based programs (MSWord, Excel, Access, desktop publishing and/ or web software)

  • Ability to maintain efficient and up-to-date database systems for research projects

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated organisational skills

  • Good time-management skills and demonstrated ability to manage and work to competing deadlines, be flexible and adaptable in a dynamic research environment.

  • Active participation as an effective member of the team

  • Excellent attention to detail
