About This Opportunity

The Senior Project Officer is responsible for coordinating and/or supervising the successful delivery of the projects and activities of the UQ Indigenous Business Hub (IBH).

The UQ IBH is responsible for driving the delivery of the UQBS Indigenous Engagement Strategy which aims to develop and implement a capacity-building framework for aspirational thought leadership and educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The role is responsible for a range of activities across the relevant phase of project delivery, including (but not limited to) coordinating project/activity plans, monitoring and evaluating delivery; ensuring projects/activities are delivered on time and within budget; engaging with key stakeholders and overseeing the Hub and activity budgets with the Director of the Hub.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Under the Direction of the Director, UQ IBH and the Manager, Strategic Projects support the end-to-end management of the priority projects/activities of the UQ Indigenous Business Hub including developing project plans and proposals and ensure implementation of activities occurs within agreed timelines and budgets.

  • Assist in the coordination of research for the IBH as directed by the Director, IBH.

  • Assist with the running of Narra Yimba Indigenous Business Journal, including coordinating editorial timelines and content collation, and providing website support.

  • Act as Secretariat for the UQ Indigenous Business Hub advisory Group, coordinating meeting schedules, room bookings, invitations, agenda and preparing progress reports, the minutes and action register from each meeting.

  • Coordinating and developing reports, including desktop research and communications materials for projects/activities as required by the Director.

  • Introduce and maintain quality measurement practices for projects/activities which may include high quality analysis and audit of project proposals and current activities.

  • Coordinating project-relevant engagement activities, events and education sessions, including liaising with the UQBS Administration team and the BEL Marketing and Engagement Team to plan communication and event activities for the Hub to support external stakeholder engagement.

  • Provide support for other strategic project initiatives where required and as nominated by the Manager, Strategic Projects.

About You

  • Relevant qualification with subsequent experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with high attention to detail and the ability to draft documents, reports and submissions.

  • Demonstrated capability in providing administrative assistance to committees at an executive support level.

  • Experience in resource management and/or project management.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative working style in engaging in close and genuine partnerships with stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and/or as part of a team, and manage multiple tasks often working to tight timeframes.

  • Ability to prioritise your own workload, generate imaginative and innovative solutions to problems and use your initiative as required.

  • Advanced computer literacy skills, including experience with a wide range of software applications.

  • An understanding of, or the ability to acquire knowledge of University operations, policies and procedures.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check, AHPRA registration, mandatory immunisations, first aid and/or CPR certification, blue card check, etc.
