Wunan Foundation is a leading Aboriginal development organisation based in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Its purpose is to ensure that Aboriginal people enjoy the capabilities and opportunities necessary to make positive choices that lead to independent, fulfilling lives.
iBase is seeking an Accountant to join a cohesive team of accountants and bookkeepers. The position would ideally suit someone who has sound theoretical knowledge and is eager to gain more hands-on experience in all aspects of accounting and bookkeeping. We are looking for candidates with a solutions-focused approach and a demonstrated ability to resolve issues and deal with change in a proactive and dynamic manner.
Reporting to the Senior Accountant, your duties would include:
- Processing of Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable functions
- Preparation of Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Assist in producing monthly management reports
- Maintenance of asset register
- Assist in providing financial reports to grant-funding bodies
- Attend client meetings when needed
- Maintaining client relationships with timely responses to enquiries
- Assist in budget preparation
- Providing business advice to clients
- Lodging BAS on behalf of clients
- Liaising with other parties: auditors, funding bodies, regulators etc.
- Contributing to the strategic growth and success of iBase.

Essential criteria:
- An appropriate tertiary qualification in Accounting
- Sound theoretical knowledge and possess hands on experience
- 2-5 years of Australian experience
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience in grant acquittals
- Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
- Excellent communication skills – written, verbal and presentation – and an ability to communicate in a culturally appropriate manner
- Organised and able to meet deadlines
- Strong at problem solving
- RECKON experience is preferred. QBO, Xero and MYOB experience is desired
Desirable criteria:
- A strong understanding of Indigenous people in general, and of Indigenous people and communities in the East Kimberley in particular
- Previous work experience engaging with Aboriginal communities and is passionate about assisting people with limited financial literacy
