Your Opportunity
The (SFSK) is a contact point for individuals seeking advice and support concerning the safety and wellbeing of children, young people, and their families. This service provides information, advice, and referrals to services across Tasmania, ensuring timely responses for children at risk. In cases requiring further assessment, referrals may be made to the Child Safety Service.
Based at St Johns Park, New Town, this role involves phone-based support for a diverse range of professionals and community members who are seeking guidance or raising concerns about children and young people.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Respond to incoming calls during allocated phone shifts, triaging queries ranging from simple questions to complex scenarios requiring escalation.
- Provide information, advice, and support to professionals and community members, helping them address challenges impacting the safety and wellbeing of children.
- Navigate and manage sensitive and potentially confronting information and situations concerning child safety and welfare.
- Conduct initial intakes for individuals and families contacting the service, ensuring all information is accurately recorded.
- Collaborate with co-located and external partners to access professional advice on complex cases requiring specialist expertise.
- Manage a personal caseload, including gathering additional information and assessing family situations.
To excel in this role, you will bring a passion for working in the Child, Youth, and Family sector and demonstrate confidence in case management and assessment processes. Other essential requirements include:
- Qualifications: A Degree or Diploma in Social Welfare, Social Science, or Youth Work.
- Experience:
- Proven ability to work with vulnerable people and address issues such as AOD, FDV, homelessness, and mental health challenges.
- Experience working within a matrix management system with multiple internal and external lines of management.
- Skills and Attributes:
- Proficiency in working with multiple CRMs and a quick learner of new systems.
- A positive, person-centred approach and resilience for working with trauma.
- Strong relationship-building skills with stakeholders.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
- Current knowledge of relevant policies and legislation.
- Other: A full, unrestricted driver’s licence is preferred.
