The Role

As a key member of Cricket Wellington's Senior Leadership Team, the General Manager – Performance will be responsible for overseeing the professional and pathway programs, ensuring the continued success of the Wellington Firebirds and Wellington Blaze, as well as nurturing the next generation of talent. Your transformational leadership will drive a culture of innovation, strengthen relationships, and enable players and staff to reach their full potential. You will demonstrate a deep understanding of working with constraints to maximise performance outcomes within available resources.

Strategic Focus

The General Manger - Performance will be responsible on Delivery Cricket Wellington’s Strategic Outcome – Developing Talent for Cricket Wellington and New Zealand Cricket. Including the goals of:

  • Increase Representation in the WHITE FERNS – Develop and sustain a pipeline that ensures at least four Wellington-developed players are centrally contracted to the WHITE FERNS.
  • Increase Representation in the BLACKCAPS – Maintain and grow a high-performance system that ensures at least three Wellington-developed players are centrally contracted to the BLACKCAPS.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the performance programs for the Firebirds, Blaze, and pathway teams with a focus on relationship-building and long-term development.
  • Develop and implement a high-performance strategy that fosters curiosity-driven learning and sustained success.
  • Oversee player and coach development pathways, ensuring a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Work closely with head coaches, support staff, and selectors to create an inclusive and high-performing team environment.
  • Collaborate strategically with New Zealand Cricket and other key stakeholders to align performance goals.
  • Champion player well-being and an environment that values both performance and personal growth.
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively, demonstrating the ability to work with constraints while delivering world-class performance programs.
